    • PRODUCT INFO

PT-141 (also known as bremelanotide) is a synthetic peptide developed from melanocortin. It was originally studied for tanning effects, but researchers found it had a strong impact on sexual arousal rather than pigmentation.

      Key Points:

      • Mechanism: PT-141 works by activating melanocortin receptors in the brain, which are involved in sexual desire. This is different from drugs like Viagra or Cialis, which act on blood flow.

      • Uses:

        • FDA-approved (as Vyleesi™) for premenopausal women with hypoactive sexual desire disorder (HSDD).

        • Studied (off-label) in men for erectile dysfunction, especially when PDE5 inhibitors don’t work.

      • Administration: Usually given as a subcutaneous injection about 45 minutes before activity.

      • Effects: Increases sexual desire, arousal, and sometimes physical readiness.

      • Side effects: Can include nausea, flushing, headache, and increased blood pressure. Some people also report darkening of skin freckles or moles.
